Mastering needed

I love this song, but it clips, and quite bad, at first I thought it was my speakers, so I hooked up my stereo, then plugged in the headphones, all clipped... Some reeverb would do nicely, and possibly some phaser on that little echoed noise in the backround, can't really put my finger on what that sound is. Other than that, its pro. But mastering will kill a song if not done well enough, this was killed, sorry. I won't vote on this, I wanna hit 5, but it needs some mastering.

Great Energy

Starts out powerful and slow, very nicely done. I love the feeling of this song. Very rarely do I get a chance to hear something so nice and smooth, yet powerful.

Piano is one of my favs in any electronica so I like this even more.

This song just builds up energy constantly, making it more and more addictive. I just gotta hear it end!

You stuck with one main melody but were able to build up the songs energy to keep it from being repetitive, which is very impressive. I wish you woulda had more than the one piano roll tho. Especially for the ending, it shoulda been a nice little piano solo type thing with a bit more feeling, some changes, making it different from the main song piano melody. But to each their own I say, if that suits you, its your song, and you did a damn fine job on this. Wish it makes the top 5.

You get 5 from me, I'm impressed.

Nice Intro to NG

ah..... yes, a very nice song, good and original. Nice and soft, very soothing. A great change of pace. Thank you.

I am a great fan of piano in techno/trance and even classical piano so I may be a little biased to this :D

Ok to do this right now.

The beginning is good, starts out classical-ish but immediately tells the listener no with the small bass sound in the backround, good choice. Then it quickly cuts in a bit and I must say I'm impressed, especially for your first NG sub, you musta spent a lot of time working on this.

The song is actually quite simple sounding, another one of my likes. You did something most new audio artists never do, you mastered this. I hear NO distortion.

Your talent is good, I can see a lot of great things from you. Before you end it and everything gets crazy, its really good, and sounds like its about to do a MAJOR transition, but instead it ends, and not too well. I think you need to find a better ending. I was disappointed there, the only disappointment in the whole song.

I think continuing with your build up into a massive blast that echoes into the distance would make a much more suiting ending.

On a side note, I like how you tried not to overdo the claps and mixed with the the drums, they sound similar so it blends well, but sound different enough to not sound repetitive and dumb. You seem to know how to keep the song flow without really dropping its quality or feel.

Keep it up, can't wait to hear your next song, any realease date you can guesstimate?

Also what prog do you use? I would guess FL 5.0 Studio Ed. Am I right?

F1uk3 responds:

I very much appreciate your compliments. Even more though, I'd like to thank you for taking the time to point out areas where I could improve. I plan to eventually remake the song, bearing in mind many people's (e.g. you) remarks.

Do you think I should just change the ending? Are there any other areas in the song that you would say could use improvement?

Nice.

As to the Legendary Comment by someone, Paradise on E is good, but B0UNC3 overdid it... I began to feel like most of his songs were just another version of Paradise on E.

But this song, this is good. Totally different from most of whats out there, which is what makes a legendary song legendary. If its sounds like something you've heard before its not gonna cut it. I can't think of anything that I can relate this to. By any chance to you listen to FC Kahuna? I guess this could be similar in the fact of its out there style. But yea, this is solid. I like it. Not sure if its my basic speakers but is this even bassy? I can hear this massive low volume low freq in the backround but I'm not sure if it plays all the time. I need to get some better speakers. Anyways, this is great, good job!

LaymanLove responds:

Hey man, I've never heard of FC Kahuna, but I will definitely check that out. The massive low Freq is the bassline, my favorite part of the song!

Legendary is a matter of perception anyway, and even so, I think it is linked to time. For example, Dreamscaper's Miniature Fantasy, the highest rated trance track submitted prior to 2005 (up for more than 2 years now), is worthy of "Legendary". But even then, that's only within Newgrounds.

Thanks for the review, Fuel. Keep on listenin, I got a few good things on the way!

LL

Vengaboys are back in town eh?

Nice little midi-like version of Boom Boom Boom by Vengaboys. Didn't think they were still in anyones playlists anymore. I remember listening to this all the time on old MC Mario CD's lol. Back before I got really into dance/trance.

You got a 9 on originality from me, which is rare PERIOD for the fact that this is the first time I heard of anyone remixing/remaking/midi-ing a Vengaboys song :p
You gave me quite a chuckle so I like you now! heh

Nice job lol.

Do I get 5's for getting the actual title/artist 100% correct? :p

Flashburn responds:

I guess Ill throw you a few because its been guessed already.. haha

Nice lead-in

I like how the song sets me up for something very different than what the main product is. Great job, I love being suprised. I have one major issue with the first transition tho, those drums came in and I was like "erg this doesn't fit" again, very dull sounding, but the pattern and how they played just didn't fit with the beginnning, it did with the faster beat, but if its not a smooth transition its not a good one in my book... This weighed to heavily on my mind when thinking about it seriously. The song besides this is very well.
I'm a massive fan of piano in trance/techno so it grabbed my liking fast. It's a constant evolution in this song, ever changing if you will. Which makes it a great song! Also, that drumroll at the end, like how I felyt about it in its transitions, didn't fit. The song bombed at the end for that... which annoyed me a lot, cause I really like this song aside from that not-fitting drumroll. Keep at it, this is very good.

Nice.

I'm on crappy speakers but this seems to be mastered well. Great! You DID get mastering down!
This is a nice well rounded song, that might force me to add your name to a list of artists in my regular playlists now. I was hesitant but you won me over with this one :p

The biggest problem I have with this is the drumroll, early in the song... They seem too plain... like they are distant off but they just aren't crisp and don't really fit with the song real well. I know its very minor but minor things are what gets ya. And why this just squeaked into my playlist, if they were more crisp and suited this song was a 100% playlist worthy song, the drums pushed that number down to 70% but it squeaked by :p

Good track.

Still trying to figure out...

Just how good you really are. I think you have some talent, just not sure how far it goes. I'm not a big fan of remakes because its unimaginative and uninspired, but since thats my personal opinion I rated you as unbiased as I could. I hate people that can't think outside of themselves so I will try not to do the same. Good song, but a remake...

Nice buildup...

It's a very simplistic song, which is a style I like. Anything really simple, yet is very good and able to keep the listener wanting more is a job very well done, which you did.
The song is a constant buildup which is great! Keeps me wanting to hear it more and more and I won't stop until I get the the climax and see how it ends. Thats really good, but the only bad thing about this is, when I know how it goes, and how it ends, its not that exciting anymore. I'm not putting this down. I mean, its a great song, and if on a CD it should go right in the middle. Why the middle you ask? Because I think thats where you need to make the listener want to stay interested the most, and this will get someone interested. But also being in the middle means its not likely to be played a whole lot, not like the first few tracks, which are meant to grab the listener and make him play the CD over and over.
This song got me interested in you as an artist, but its not working its way into my playlists anytime soon.
All and all, its a great song, just for the fact that it grabs my attention, if only once, it makes me interested in the artist. So its a good attention grabber. Can't wait to hear more.

Also, being so simplistic makes me wonder if you've really gotten mastering down, or if this song was even able to peak with its simplicity, I will just have to listen on and find out.

Mastering is killing you...

I've listened to your songs from oldest to this one so far, and I see that you haven't mastered the art of mastering yet. I hope as I go on, you get better at this. Your skills are good, with room to improve, and song by song you seem to improve, but song by song I see much needed mastering...
Solid try, and very catchy, now get the mastering done and it'll be even better.
